To the community I serve,
I want to share my story with you, not just how 4Twists came to be, but why food has always been my way of connecting and creating joy.
When I was a kid, I wasn’t watching cartoons like everybody else. I was glued to the Food Network. I’d sit on the kitchen floor, pulling out pots and pans, pretending I was cooking right alongside Emeril Lagasse , yelling “Bam!” like it was my own show, watching Rachel Ray and Cooking with The Nealy’s soaking in the rhythms of the kitchen.
As a child, I dreamed of attending Le Cordon Bleu, imagining myself walking the halls of one of the world’s most prestigious culinary schools. But life had other plans.
I didn’t take the traditional path. I’m self‑taught, resourceful, and rooted in community.
My greatest teacher wasn’t on TV — My greatest teacher was my Papa.
He built a grill pit in the backyard, where the smoke and laughter became part of our family’s rhythm, making food that brought everybody together and filled our grandparents home with the smell of barbecue, however, it’s the little things, which showed me what food is really about, from his chicken casserole, or those big breakfasts with sausage, eggs, grits, and pancakes, this truly shaped me.
He’d keep me on his hip while he cooked, always handing me the spoon to taste. Those moments taught me that food isn’t just about recipes, it’s about love, memory, and connection. He will always be my HERO.
Food is all about how it makes you feel. For me, a good meal should make you stop and say, “Damn, that was good.” It should comfort you, settle you in, and feel like home. At the end of the day, it’s not about the presentation, it’s about the experience. Do you feel it?
As a child, my family and I discovered my God‑given gift: the ability to taste a dish and duplicate it without ever seeing the ingredients. Cooking became my language , my way of bringing people together.
4Twists is more than catering ,it’s a commitment to community. As a product of the inner city, I know firsthand what it means to dream beyond the limits others set. Look at me now: I carved my own path, and I believe any child with a passion for food can do the same.
I’m brewing up ideas to widen 4Twists footprint in the community, creating opportunities for young, aspiring culinary artists. If I cross paths with an inner‑city child who wants to cook, who dreams of stepping into the food industry, I will do everything I can to make sure they make it.
4Twists is my vision, and my dream will be my reality. 4Twists will grow to be a brick‑and‑mortar space, a place where soulful flavor lives, and where up‑and‑coming culinary artists know their talent matters. Even if the world says their path is “unorthodox,” I want them to know they belong.
Food matters and the people who make it are pivotal.
My mission is to serve communities with soulful flavor, while also building a future where talent is nurtured, voices are heard, and dreams are realized.
Maybe I'll have my own cooking show, or even step into the fiery kitchen alongside Chef Gordon Ramsay on Hell’s Kitchen. Who knows —Stay tuned.
Today, through 4Twists Catering, I carry forward my grandfather’s legacy, my childhood curiosity, and my vision for the future.
This is more than a business. It’s a movement to honor tradition, empower talent, and remind every client that food is not just about presentation, it’s about the experience, the connection, and the feeling it leaves behind.
With gratitude, Alexandria, Founder of 4Twists Catering
